At Weekend Tee Co. we are huge fans of the air we breathe and the earth we breathe it on. We think it's only natural that we give back to something we believe so strongly in.
Starting in 2017, we will be working with the National Forrest Foundation to plant one tree for every tee shirt we sell. The program is helping to restore National Forests damaged by wildfire, insects, disease and other impacts. You can learn more about the National Forrest Foundation and donate here.
A personal note -
At the age of 15, I discovered a love for design - specifically Graphic Design at my high school. I helped design logos and posters for clubs. I designed and published our school newspaper - I even printed it. After high school I attended a community collage to work on my design degree. To pay for the classes, I worked nights at a local printing company. I loved seeing my work go from concept - to computer - to paper.
Fast forward 20 years.
With a creative degree folded in my back pocket, I found myself still employed in the (not so creative) printing industry. I don't regret the years of work as it earned me enough to cover a mortgage and the costs of raising a family. But, I often think about how many millions of sheets of paper I've put through those presses over the years. I've always wondered how many trees worth of junk mail ended up in landfills. One reason I started The Weekend Tee Company was to be a creative outlet for my designs and photography. Another reason was to make good on every ream I opened and each crumpled sheet I missed tossing into the recycle bin.
Its never too late to make a change. Its never too late to make a difference.
